Use extension cords, or a transfer switch or interlock installed by a licensed electrician.
COOL. THEN REFUEL.
Turn it off and let it cool down before adding fuel.
Keep a working carbon monoxide alarm in your home. Generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an invisible, odorless gas that can be deadly. If an alarm sounds or anyone feels dizzy, weak or nauseated, get to fresh air immediately and call 911.
Use outdoor-rated extension cords suitable for the load. Keep the generator dry and follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions. A transfer switch or interlock must be installed by a licensed electrician; never plug a generator into a wall outlet.
